Hi all,
I was diagnosed 4+ yrs. ago but never sought therapy in addition to meds until now (I hit a real low a few months ago & last week I knew I needed help to get out of it). I start intensive outpatient therapy with group DBT next Tue.
I am excited but nervous... especially about being around other people. I have no idea what to expect. Maybe that is a good thing?
Anyone who can contribute anything, please do!
Thx!

I hope you'll post a follow-up after your first group meeting! I will be curious to see how it turned out. In the city that I live in, I found a DBT program for treatment of BPD, but it consists of 3 parts - individual therapy, group therapy, and one other component that totally escapes me at the moment. It sounded very intensive, and because of my kids' schedules, I found that I wouldn't currently be able to squeeze it into my schedule.

I'm in it now. It's not really a big deal. There's about 9 people in my group, and their average looking people and just by looking at them you wouldn't know they had issues. My group runs for
2 hours. The first 1/2 is going over homework, and the last 1/2 is learning a new skill. It's a very supportive atmosphere.. That's about it.
