weather=depression?

Postby unity1 » Thu Oct 06, 2011 9:33 pm

Ok, so im analysing again...everything..i hate it when i do this :?

The last couple days i think my mood has been changing to depression :( Im just trying to work out why...things seem to finally be calm, no arguments with the family...uni going well...getting my finances slowly sorted...but yet now...this...feeling just??? sad, fed up, tired, lonely, emotional...

Part of me is wondering if it could be this weather change, all dark and gloomy and cold...or is just where things these last months my emotions have been all over the place and now suddely there is calm, i just got nothing else left to feel but this?

Or maybe both? Or maybe this is also just a passing phase too...u know im feeling pretty fed up with thinking bout being like this for anothr 50 years :( im sick of the whole flipping emotional cycling,,,really am :(

Weather has always had a huge effect on my moods. I like sunshine and dry weather and the occasional thunderstorm. Heavy snow is fun for a week or two and then it gets old fast. Dismal, cloudy, gray, muddy, slushy weather is my least favorite, especially when it goes on and on and on for months.

The other thing about weather is that changing seasons sometimes brings up old memories and emotions and all the baggage associated with them. It can be a lot to deal with.

I agree with betterlatethannever.
Weather can affect our mood from good being bad, or the otherwise or we might don't care at all

i always feel better when it rains hard with all the thunder and lightning outside.
as a matter of fact, i sleep well if it happen
LOL

I think there have been studies done on how weather does actually alter your mood - lack of light in the winter, for example. I think you can buy these sun lamps to perk you up or something.

I'm sort of the opposite - I'm happier when it's cold outside. I grew up in a very hot, dry place, and I think heat and sun remind me of my not-so-fabulous childhood. I actually get depressed in the summer (this may have something to do with my kids being home from school and driving me up the wall). Winter is nice because you get extra blankets on your bed to snuggle under, snow is cool (never had it growing up) and then there's Christmas and Thanksgiving! I like how happy my children become at these holidays and I like to bake things.

I know that's weird - but I hate the sun. I've had skin cancer as well, so I'm a little afraid of it.

Maybe get one of those light lamps? Or do fun holiday projects like make little gingerbread men.

That said, I like rain and cold when I'm IN BED, not so much when I have to go outside and walk around it in it. Working at a Uni, I walk around outside a lot and the cold is not so fun. :(

Weather affects my moods, unless something TRULY effective happens, which can take me to the depths of despair, or the elation mode. Then, it usually cycles back to whatever is going on with the weather.

Like lately, it's been gloomy and raining, and getting colder to boot. That makes me feel sad and gloomy, and without much motivation.

But today, its sunny and crisp and clear, so I woke up in a good mood, and I'm convinced its going to be a good day.

I'm a strange bird, I guess.
