well I read the article...with my attention span it was a feat!

part way through I felt like KILLING myself...then i wanted to KILL the person who wrote it!

then I skipped a bit and got to the end.

(I'm not worried about the part where I'm told I will be harrassed by murderers in hell because they have no respect for suicidals', quite the opposite...
I consider myself to be the FEARLESS one and that they should WATCH OUT!)

anyway it was interesting, obviously written by someone who has never had a go themselves.

Yea... that was awful. I've seen a lot better attempts at dark humor. I've also seen much better articles describing the horrors of failed suicide attempts. This was just a condescending-hack mess.

I don't claim to have the most mature sense of humor, but the Skyler bit was just asinine. Also, anything evoking Pascal's Wager makes my eyes roll to the back of my head. The only decent point the "author" made was that things often do get better if you just give it a chance. Of course, he included the line "if you're under the age 38, the odds are that the future will hold something more awesome."

So, if you're over 38 you're life is over and there's no sense in trying. Spoken like someone who is both young (thus thinking anything over 38 is old) and has never experienced true depression.

I realize it's meant to be funny and not taken too seriously; maybe I should lighten up. But really... I just thought the whole thing sucked.

Ha, ha. Sorry, it really made me laugh. I don't always take things so seriously though. I laugh at myself for being so abjectly miserable sometimes. Its just absurd. As for the under 38 part, I think he was saying especially if you're under 38. Since you have more than half your life left. He was being statistical, not so much you're far too old after 38 to be happy.

Well sorry you didn't enjoy it. I really thought it was funny. Guess I was wrong.

Exactly, nonameatall. I'm all for dark humor and having a good laugh at myself, it's just that the execution of this piece did nothing for me. It's just a matter of opinion. For instance, I prefer slyly tripping children as opposed to punching them. HIL-ARIOUS!
