just found this link on schema modes, found it verry interesting.
i literaly had no idea why this was happeneing, and it relates to what has been going on within me for quite some time now.

this stuff is quite deep seated, but i think can be helped over time, with the right encouragement and guidance.

Schema therapy is great - if you have a check under some of my posts, you'll see one on schema therapy. There are lots of questionnaires you can fill out, and work out which schemas are your problem ones. I started this about 18 months ago with my psychologist and it really helps. I haven't watched the video yet - just about to once I've checked the rest of the forum.

For me, it helps just to know why I'm behaving or reacting in a certain way. I can't necessarily stop myself from doing it, but I can explain to myself and other people about what's going on and that helps reduce the emotional intensity to something much more manageable.

EDIT - The video explains what I've tried to say in quite a few of my recent posts. The diagram he draws is virtually identical to the one my psychologist first drew up for me. But it's pronounced "skee mah".....that b&gged me!! But that's my perfectionist tendencies (the punitive parent).
