Iwoya, thanks. I actually have done that with a therapist and it worked for a little while, then it kind of went off course. I can be pretty manipulative myself. In the end, a therapist and a patient have different roles to play, even if the patient is the one who knows more about the diagnosis. However, it was sure as hell better than going without help.

Btw, there is a great book called "Trauma and Recovery" by Judith Herman that talks a lot about how patients can, and often do, lead the therapy.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep my eyes open for a copy.
