i was wondering if there were folks out there that just don't click with people their own age? i am a mom and most of the people i get along with a teenagers. i have more in common with them that i do adults. more similar interests.
this seems strange in a way, but other moms seems to be social climbers or super hippy nature nugget types. well the ones i have met are.
i have yet to run into a mom who wants to go to anime conventions, cosplay, read manga, dye their hair many shades of the rainbow, or be tattooed or pierced.
so the teens i meet like these things. so it is easier to connect with them.
any other people not connect or find common interests with people their own age?

It is possible you are exploring interests and attending events you were not able to explore quite so fully while younger.
That you retain an interest in activities many younger people do does certainly express vivaciousness of character.

My guess is you just aren't looking in the right place. That does seem rather difficult though. Ha, I went to an anime con not too long ago and I felt old. I'm only 20.
I had a hard time at college with that from time to time. Lots of religious fanatics, sports fans, and "bros", all of which I despise. Just have to keep looking, you'll find them. Maybe try looking for an online group in your area.
