Favorite Hurt'n song

Postby freshcutgrass » Fri Mar 26, 2010 2:09 am

You know...when you just have to wallow in the feeling (as opposed to listening to something uplifting).

Doesn't matter what side of the fence you are on...if you're here, you're hurt'n. So what's your go-to hurt'n tune?

This has always been one of my fave Stones tunes...

Artist : Rolling Stones
Song : Angie

(Jagger-Richards, 1973)
Angie, Angie
When will those clouds all disappear?
Angie, Angie
Where will it lead us from here?
With no loving in our souls
And no money in our coats
You can't say we're satisfied
But Angie, Angie
You can't say we never tried
Angie, You're beautiful
But ain't it time we said goodbye
Angie, I still love you
Remember all those nights we cried?
All the dreams we held so close
Seemed to all go up in smoke
Let me whisper in your ear
Angie, Angie
Where will it lead us from here?
Angie, don't weep
All your kisses still taste sweet
I hate that sadness in your eyes
But Angie, Angie
Ain't it time we said goodbye?
With no loving in our souls
And no money in our coats
You can't say we're satisfied
But Angie, I still love you, baby
Everywhere I look I see your eyes
There ain't a woman that comes close to you
Come on baby dry your eyes
But Angie, Angie
Ain't it good to be alive?
Angie, Angie
They can say we never tried

Ooh I'm bad for this. So many times I probably would have felt fine if I avoided the self-pity songs.

Here's one of the main ones:

Aikaa Multaa Muistot by Sentenced

Everything is nothing to me, I couldn't care less
A stern cold man is what I am, hard, relentless
And though I might have strayed the path, I wouldn't change a thing
I've hated life to the fullest yet with longing deep within

For my name is sorrow and I'm a friend of misery
I deprived myself of love for eternal agony
And I don't even dare to try, I know I can only lose
Between this life I live and nothing I have to choose

Take me home...
... to the one I belong!

I'll see you all go down and witness your demise
I'll be the last to close, the last to close my eyes
And forgive me nothing for I truly meant it all
- what I've said, what I've done!

And also
Excuse Me While I Kill Myself

How do you do?
Have yourself, a pleasant afternoon.
Well, ###$ you too,
Tonight's the one I choose, for you!

I'll kill myself,
I'll blow my brains onto the wall.
See you in Hell,
I will not take this anymore.
Now this is where ends, this is where I will draw the line,
So excuse me while, I end my life.

I will pull this through,
Not having a reason's no excuse.
What the Hell do you,
Suppose that I have left to lose?

I'll kill myself,
I'll blow my brains onto the wall.
See you in Hell,
I will not take this anymore.
Now this is where ends, this is where I will draw the line,
So excuse me while, I end my life.

I'll kill myself...
I'll kill myself
See you in Hell
I'll kill myself
See you in Hell
I'll kill myself
See you in Hell
I'll kill myself
See you in Hell

I'll kill myself,
I'll blow my brains onto the wall!
See you in Hell,
I will not take this anymore!
This is where it ends,
I put a bullet in my head.
Oh yes drop dead
This is where it ends,
This is where I will draw the line.
Excuse me while...

I kill myself.

Pretty subtle, huh!

I pick songs that I listened to while I was having a rough time, and wallow in the familiar feeling. I can't listen to Evanescence anymore (say what you want, that music both saved my life and almost ended it), not without being in a bad state. Also "Strawberry Gashes" by Jack Off Jill since is a really dangerous hurt'n song, since I used to be a heavy cutter until rather recently, when I promised my girlfriend I'd curb it:

Turn her over
A candle is lit, I see through her
Blow it out and save all her ashes for me

Curse me sold her
The poison that runs it's course through her
Pale white skin with strawberry gashes all over all over

Watch me fault her
You're living like a disaster
She said kill me faster
with strawberry gashes all over

Called her over
and asked her if she was improving
She said "feels fine" it's wonderful wonderful here

Hex me told her
I dreamt of a devil that knew her
Pale white skin with strawberry gashes all over all over

Watch me fault her
You're living like a disaster
She said kill me faster
with strawberry gashes all over

I lay quiet
waiting for her voice to say
"Some things you lose and some things you just give away"

Scold me failed her
If only I'd held on tighter to her
Pale white skin that twisted and withered away from me away from me

Watch me lose her
It's almost like losing myself
Give her my soul
and let them take somebody else get away from me

Watch me fault her
You're living like a disaster
She said kill me faster
with strawberry gashes all over all over me

I love the song I Kill Myself! It's not a sad one to me...

I like... Placebo's Protge Moi (Protect Me)

It's in french, so I'm not posting lyrics...
I just love the way the singer drones the way he does...
Als anything by She Wants Revenge is droney and good for wallowing in self pity

I love Placebo! I speak French too.

I have never heard of that song though. I thought I had every album.

Heh, I must've been born in the wrong decade. Love "Angie" and "Desperado."

Aerosmith's "Hole In My Soul" was a big one for me back in the day. So is "Ain't That A Bitch?"

These days, I consciously look for songs that express where I want to be. But there's that amazing feeling of hearing a song that expresses how I feel when I'm feeling low. Makes me feel a lot less alone.

Can't get stuck in the negative feelings, though. ;)

A war raging deep inside my head, a split decision that will end with me dead, you see the agony in my eyes, protruding aimless, i think its time to, to, to die. -slayer
Faith no more- the real thing. The whole album seems to be about bpd. Also at the moment umbrella by rhianna and i have started listening to florence and the macho too. evanescence definitely. boys dont cry by the cure. Oh and return to innocence by enigma. I listen to a jot of different music. I am also trying to listen more to music that reflects where i would like to be rather than where i am at the moment. Florence being a possible exception. Although it is nice to hear a female express the same some of the same sentiments as i have of a violent nature but feeling based. i am not sure why but it gives me some sort of relief.

I thought about it and The Dresden Dolls have some really good music for wallowing in self pity and sadness...

Bad Habit-The Dresden Dolls wrote:biting keeps your words at bay
tending to the sores that stay
happiness is just a gash away
when i open a familiar scar
pain goes shooting like a star
comfort hasn't failed to follow so far...

and you might say it's self-indulgent
you might say its self-destructive
but, you see, it's more productive
than if i were to be healthy

& pens and penknives take the blame
crane my neck & scratch my name
but the ugly marks
are worth the momentary gain...
when i jab a sharpened object in
choirs of angels seem to sing
hymns of hate in memorandum

and you might say it's self-indulgent
and you might say it's self-destructive
but, you see, it's more productive
than if i were to be happy

and sappy songs about sex and cheating
bland accounts of two lovers meeting
make me want to give mankind a beating

and you might say it's self-destructive
but, you see, i'd kick the bucket
sixty times before i'd kick the habit

as the skin rips off i cherish the revolting thought
that even if i quit
there's not a chance in hell i'd stop
but anyone can see the signs
mittens in the summertime
thank you for your pity, you are too kind

and you might say its self-inflicting
but you see that's contradicting
why on earth would anyone practice self destruction?

and pain opinions are sitcom feeding
they dont know that their minds are teething
makes me want to give mankind a beating

i'm tried bandages and sinking
i've tried gloves and even thinking
i've tried vaseline
i've tried everything
and no-one cares if your back is bleeding
they're concerned with their hair receding
looking back it was all maltreating
every thought that occurred misleading

makes me want to give myself a beating....
