Sorry I just got to share this…

I came up with a more succinct version of everything that Downtown said…

“The problem with mental health forums is all the crazy people who tend to frequent them.”

LOL

Remember this board isn’t so much about helping Nons it’s about helping us crazies and if we can’t express ourselves what’s the point of going?

is an SPD person, for example, crazy because his view/lifestyle differs from the one commonly accepted?

According to this graphic, Schizoids have the same level of psychoticism as Borderlines; so if borderlines are crazy people, schizoids are too. According to this, only schizotypals are more crazy... though for some reasons it also lists antisocials as psychosis prone too... I never really heard that one. So, while they may appear cold, detached and rational people, they have the same likehood as borderlines to bust out of their homes with their panties on their head trying to avoid mind-control rays sent by undercover extraterrestrial government agents of the new world order reptilian overlords. But then, that is really just another lifestyle.

I will have to completely disagree with that....

EDIT: IF, yes a big IF, one day I start doing such things, then you have my full permission to really call me crazy. Until then, it just doesn't describe SPD correctly (or other similar disorder)

Being "different" and deviating from accepted norms != crazy

Have you read about the link between Schizoid PD and psychosis? Schizoid PD, Schizotypal PD, Schizophrenia, psychosis etc are all interconnected from all being schizotypic states. Schizoid PD would be the less psychosis prone of the lot, but brief reactive psychosises are documented reactions to stress in people with schizoid personalities. Schizoid PD can also be a prodrome state to Schizophrenia. I've been told by the psychiatrist that diagnosed me with SPD that SPD has about 1% chance to devolve into Schizophrenia, but it goes up to 10% if you abuse drugs that interferes with empathy (like cocaine does). It would appear that those odds of going schizophrenic and having brief psychotic reactions are about the same in Schizoids and Borderlines (1% of you are wise, 10% if you abuse), but that Schizotypals have higher odds than either of them of psychotic-like reactions. BTW my description was meant to be over the top, but the link between Schizoid PD and psychosis (and other psychosis prone personalities like Schizotypal and Borderline) is very real.

Yes, I have read about SPD, schizotypal, schizophrenia (in fact, my mom has a mild form of it and hears voices), narcissistic disorder, histrionic and antisocial disorder. As I see it, just because some people have such SPD/NPD/whatever disorders, does not directly mean they are "crazy". They certainly are (much) more vulnerable/suspected of *becoming* crazy at some point (if ever), but until they do, IMHO, it's wrong to call them crazy

Also, a psychosis is not direct evidence that one has a disorder. It is not uncommon, during a heavy depression, for some people to have a single episode of psychotic moment which afterward never occurs again.

Anyways, I'm off watching a few movies..... bbl

Borderlines RARELY have transient psychosis. If it is a constant problem, look for something else. Misdiagnoses is rampant in the psychiatric community because there are no blood tests to actually know for sure.

I came here hoping for a good borderline dialect. Now I think most people are crazier than borderlines, whom don't have to be crazy at all. I REALLY question some people who call themselves "normal." After all, if you're crazy, you usually don't know it...

JMO that the people drawn to these PD boards aren't anywhere near normal, whether they have borderline or something else  I rarely post here now.

Oh goodness…

I really have to apologize here. It seems that the fact that I was Joking, and then TEASING seems to have gone completely missed.
There is no rational defense for what I said, It was SIMPLY to make someone chuckle.

Now this IS serious.

I think we all tend to get too wrapped up in our diagnosis. I believe that in some cases it can do more harm than good, after all once labeled I feel that it is human nature to then try to fit that label as strongly as possible… but this goes against the entire point of therapy. In short Diagnoses have a unsettling habit of defining the sick… in that case isn’t a ambiguous and generalized title of crazy actually more beneficial?
Cool on the internet

No need to apologize. All it shows you is that you have to be careful in your interactions with crazy people. Everybody is a little bit crazy, except the really crazy people.

Hey I said that!

pounce wrote:It made me wonder when I read stuff like that if you guys were even considering you audience?!? I can only speak for myself here but I bet I'm not alone when i say this. Most guys posting here who are "nons", myself included, regardless of if we've been now split black and left by our partner who suffers from BPD, ( as is the case with me ), or are still with their partner and trying to stay togther, care deeply for that person, and likely take offense, ( I'm putting it mildly), to the thought of someone hitting on their BPD partner, or x partner, with the single goal in mind of trying to "score". Its pathetic and sad, if theres not a "disorder classification catagory" for that kind of thought pattern and behavior... There ought to be.

WTF? Do you expect your little BPD angel to go out to a club and NOT get hit on by any of the guys? And do you really think if she's not getting hit on that she will go out of her way to hit on other guys? BPDs are attention wh0res if you forgot...

BPDs are NOT fit for healthy intimate relationships, END OF STORY. You would have to be stupid to entertain such an idea. So why would anyone who has knowledge of BPD target them for anything more than sex? There is none.

Plus I must bring up the point again of double standards; BPDs treat their love partners like sh1t and cause unnecessary drama, chaos and emotional pain, but when someone else mentions using them for sex... OH NOOOO YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!!!

I honestly think that it's the nons we tend to be with that mess up relationships. If they can't wrap their heads around us, they leave... If you can find someone that "gets" it, you're better off, and more likely to work...

Rai wrote:I hate living with BPD.

I say this a lot, but you can't let it consume you.
It's not a disorder, it's just a way to describe your personality.
Own it, don't let it own you.
I don't hate my BPD.
I embrace it and use it.
Keeps me as sane as we can hope for.

Thank you _all_ so much for posting in this thread. Even a chart from the Million book. Heh.
My main issue in lurking for soooo long here was the inconsistency in the "non" postings. I sensed... vitriol. Turns out there is a reasonable explanation. No, I didn't catch on, either. This thread rocks.

I am a male Non, half a year No Contact with a Dual Diag fiancee'. "You dodged a bullet, my friend." Still studying all the documentation on which I can get my grubby hands.
I was mobbed by BPD members on my last board, with only a pinch of support from other Nons. I'd stepped in to defend someone, and was assassinated. (I felt like I was dating again)

Looks like there's a critical mass of support here, and I thank you... all... from the bottom of my heart. Deal me in.
