Hi all,

I guess my diagnosis is actually Bipolar II, but they say I have BPD tendencies. The doc says "not BPD," but the therapist says "definitely BPD." Anyway, I've also got a host of other things going on too, though: OCD, eating disorder, etc.

Whatever. It's not me, but it tries to interfere with me being me. If that makes sense?

Just wanted to say hello. I've been looking for a forum where I can receive support and possibly help others through sharing things I've learned along the way.

Hugs to all,
Sly :D

Hi, Sly! Welcome to the forum. I know what you mean when you say it tries to interfere with you being you, I think I have something like Bipolar disorder too. We'll fight it and we're strong enough to be ourselves, though :D

Hi imperfect_butterfly,
From what I understand, cutting doesn't necessarily mean you have BPD. Self-mutilation is just one possible symptom of BPD. You need to experience five or more symptoms to meet the diagnostic criteria, I think. I'm more avoidant than anything else but I have some strong borderline traits. I don't cut or anything similar. Don't feel like a loser--many people have that same misconception! In fact, when I first learned about PDs some years ago I thought you couldn't have BPD if you don't cut, a misguided belief that allowed me to ignore the borderline symptoms I did have for years.

Welcome to the forums, Sly! These forums are great for support.

You can call me Pollyanna
Say I'm crazy as a loon
I believe in silver linings
And that's why I believe in you
