BPD Specialist in Rhode Island?

Postby Wiggler » Wed Nov 19, 2008 6:07 pm

Does anyone know of a therapist specializing in the treatment of BPD patients in the Rhode Island area?

Hi,

You should just search for them on the Internet. Here are two websites that I have already found:

However, the best approach to take is to go to your local doctor first and then get a referral from him/her to a specialist. That is the normal procedure for things like this.

Take care,
Kevin

Chucky: I appreciate the suggestions; however, you must understand that Rhode Island is a very small state with limited resources. Many businesses and professionals in this state do not have websites or their names in databases on the net... Worse yet, a good number of the ones who do have them tend to not keep the information up to date.

I have changed primary care physicians 3 times in the past two years and each one that I've asked for referals always points me in the direction of someone they know personally... not someone who they know to treat BPD. For some reason, they assume that one shrink is as good as another.

I will check out the links you posted but I have to tell you that I wouldn't be posting my question here if I had any luck searching for doctors on the net or getting referals in the past.

Hi Wiggler,

I apologise for not being much help to you. However, the reason why I posted the links was because I assumed that you were like many other people that I have encountered here who don't seem to know what a search engine is. Obviously, you're more Internet 'savvy' than these people! Anyway, I don't think I can be of much more help to you considering I live all the way over here in Ireland. Hopefully somebody else will reply though.

Take care,
Kevin

I usually assume that if someone can figure out how to use these forums, then they usually can handle sorting through search engine results... but that's not always true.
