Stopping therapy and the regret BPD brings

Postby toddamus » Fri Mar 10, 2017 8:53 pm

As I mentioned, I was considering ending a therapeutic relationship.

And I did. I can give many reasons, some emotional, a few very valid and with those valid non-emotive reasons I ended my relationship with a particular therapist.

Now I'm feeling insecure. As we know BPD brings about unstable relationships and my mind is wanting to tell me this is another failed relationship.

Anyone have experience with this? At my core, I know why I ended it was right, but my BPD mind, informed by my past, wants to tell me this is just another relationship failure among many.

How would you guys deal with this?

Are you stopping all therapy? Or just this one relationship?
Until you're broken, you don't know what you're made of.

I'm on meds, that won't change. However I'm ending DBT altogether because of this, which if anyone who has been a part of DBT knows, its quite a change.

Kind of means i'm on my own for a bit which I'm ok with because I feel better now than I did when I was working with that person.

I understand giving up on DBT. To me, it just made little sense, and not helpful. It was also always taught in groups and I never do groups. They are so depressing. But I have read books on DBT. I did like the Two Minds.

I'm glad you didn't stop your medication.
