My mind is a beast

Postby mostlyghostly » Thu Apr 14, 2016 5:57 pm

I was taken off of Latuda because it seemed like it was causing dysphoric mania. I was started on Risperdal. Side effects of Risperdal are supposed to include sleeping a lot, loss of libido and eating everything in sight / weight gain. I'm still wound up, aroused half the day and have no appetite. BPD makes even psychiatry its bitch.

I know. My own brain organ seems to be as oppositional as I am.

Common side effects include drowsiness, weight gain and loss of libido? Well then let's feel hyper, have no appetite and be sexually attracted to everything.

Well, that doesn't mean that it won't switch over as you get used to it. I had something similar when I started olanzapine. Couldn't sit still or eat at first. 2 months later I felt like a zombie, had no libido and had gone up two dress sizes. Not that it will happen to you on your meds.

Totally possible, that's what happened with Lexapro back in the day when I was on it.

Brains are weird.

My brain is usually completely resistant to side effects. I've taken a couple meds where literally nothing has happened. Right now I'm on a moderate dose of topamax, which is supposed to be associated with killer side effects, and I've felt none of them.

But give me abilify, the most weight-neutral anti-psychotic, and I immediately gain 30 lbs on it.

WTF body.
