Lone parent - Benefits for BPD ?

Postby Monkey100 » Sat Feb 06, 2016 4:00 pm

Hi guys,

Can I ask if there are any lone parents on here with BPD ?

I've been diagnosed and told to apply for DLA or something, I was curious what money I would have coming in since I'm a lone parent and not working.

UK DLA has changed to PIP
though im not sure if there is a money claim for PIP for BPD but i guess you could call them about it.I know a few pwBPD that work (im one of them)

http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/index/inform ... nt-pip.htm

Who advised you to seek DLA anyway ..im quite surprised, your the 1st person to ever mention money...be interesting if this was a professional that suggested it or just a friend?

(was lone parent years ago)

Thanks for your help, it was a friend who mentioned it. She has Crohns disease and is also a lone parent, I was worried about rent and bills getting paid. I'll check out the link. Thanks.

Hello!
I get PIP for BPD symptoms. My mother also gets it. She was coached through applying for it (and told to apply for it) through the job centre and a counsellor, and thus passed it on to me.

If you plan on applying for it for just BPD, I was told to apply from the perspective of your worst days. And it worked. I don't get the mobility portion, but every little helps, no matter what, right?

There is a session where you need to meet with someone for it, which is intimidating to say the least. But again, I was just honest with my worst days. I did explain that it wasn't like that all the time, but most of the time, and the woman reviewing me said not to bother, because the worst days was what they were looking for.

Hope that helps.
