BDSM and BPD

Postby dazeyjade » Fri Dec 11, 2015 10:03 pm

I'm wondering if there may be some sort of connection with having a personality order like BPD and being interested in BDSM. Myself personally, I am a hardcore submissive who is a part of the DD/lg lifestyle. Any of you into the kinky stuff? Do you think there may be a direct correlation between being a pwBPD and enjoying that lifestyle or is it just a mere coincidence?

Hi dazeyjade

From what I understand sexual exploration and an open-minded attitude towards bedroom athleticism is quite common amongst Borderlines. I'm not especially into BDSM, but pretty much anything goes.

I know a common characteristic of borderlines is engaging in "unsafe sex" but I suppose I can't help but wonder if participating in bondage is considered "unsafe" or if it's more so meant to be promiscuous, unprotected sex. Sometimes I can't help but feel my desire to be dominated and controlled may stem from a childhood of being abused and manipulated, and then it makes me wonder if it may be unhealthy. Yet at the same time, I can honestly say that at this point in my life, I've found nothing more therapeutic than being bound and basically having the absolute $#%^ beat out me. So, I'm only slightly conflicted here haha.

Hi dazeyjade,
I don't know if there is a connection but I am also really into bdsm. More so when I'm single & regrettably sleep around somewhat but I only do with people willing to be the dominant. I always say to them I'll try anything once. I'm not even sure if this is actually me or if I think that's what others want so I naturally try to be that for them. Since being in a relationship since august bdsm in my life has fizzled out a lot. But I find at times that I want to be close to my partner I want our bedroom time revolved around me being submissive. So that may be a connection.

Sorry I can't really answer your question but hope this may be helpful somewhat?

I've actually been really wanting to experience bdsm the last couple of months. I think there's gotta be a connection with BPD and submission. My guess would be lack of identity would create the craving for someone with so much identity and someone whose dominant and can protect you and show you what you want.
As a sub, you're getting someone to protect you, that makes you feel wanted, and that makes decisions for you. Those are all things that I crave as bpd. I think there's a huge connection there.

Taking a good thrusting from behind isn't the same as BDSM is it? (I hope not)

I didn't necessarily mean that any pwBPD was to be into BDSM. I just wonder if there may be connections between my childhood of being mistreated and abused to being an adult who is turned on by those things.
