do u get affected by watching a sad news

Postby jaus tail » Mon Aug 10, 2015 11:23 am

i get bothered a lot. like the other day i was with a friend n i saw a restaurant where there was a small pond n a tiny place for a turtle. the turtle was crawling against the wall as if struggling to get outside

i felt sorry for the turtle. n this is always. i feel sorry all the time. i see a bad news n i cringe over it n just mourn all the time

its like i'm looking for reasons to whine n blame the world. its also that i'm a hypocrite. my friend said: u feel sorry for the turtle, go buy it from the restaurant n release it in some lake

i didnt do that as well. i just stood there n whined like i always do

i feel so pathetic by myself...like some social worker who preaches social work... :x i feel like muck all over me

I often use deductive reasoning to deal with things I become angry about, deciding whether or not it's really worth it...and it usually isn't. I can use logic to get out it. Perhaps you can use the same techniques for the situations that you describe, deciding if it's important enough for you to change a situation that you're seeing. If you can't or won't change it, then decide if it's really worth it to let it affect you so much. I know that anger and empathy are apples and oranges, but they're both emotions that take control over you and linger, so they're similar in that respect.

If it's about an animal I can be affected if they are being abused or killed, but never about people.

Sometimes they do. I get very sensitive sometimes and am like "what if it happened to me?" and then I get anxious.

If its about an animal I get really upset.

I can't stand it. I immediately start to cry.

With humans, it depends. Takes more to affect me.

Just goes to show that many of us with BPD are quite sensitive and empathetic.

I used to cry. A lot. Now I just get really angry.

I don't really get sad about things on the news. I only get angry. I feel so many things are unjust in this world, basically the whole system we live by is ###$ up and unfair. I also feel people deserve punishment for the way they treat others. I don't feel sadness though. I just feel like a depressed misanthrope and hate people.

Like others here, my animal threshold is pretty low. Human, on the other hand, they can talk about some earthquake that just killed thousands of people and my next thought will be "I wonder how the Jays did today..."
