BPD & Bipolar 2 - Mood Diary recommendations aswell please?

Postby jessie126513 » Thu Aug 06, 2015 2:51 pm

Hello everyone

I am not new to this website, I just lost my old email and username and password for this website so here is my new one.

I am finally making tracks to support myself for my mental health, so in the last six months I became a patient of the secondary care team in the UK under the NHS so I can have Dialectial Behavior Therapy, which i'm sure most of you are familiar/have experience of.

I was given a BPD & Bipolar 2 Diagnosis. Not full diagnoses, because my psychiatrist thought I was so inbetween the two and fit traits of the two she didn't want to put me into one bracket.

Is there anyone else who has both? Is it a common thing?

I'm finding it hard to keep track of my mood swings. i mean, I'm not sure its due to having both conditions, but I find that I have really low periods for a good few months, last one was a really long one, and then really high, but hypomania, not full blown mania. Within these high/low periods (the highs last a week at the longest and aren't so often) I can have really rapid mood swings. So I can have a period of being really irritable, unfocused, unable to concentrate, just having ridiculous ideas, no filter to what I'm saying that basically has gotten me into trouble at work a good few times. Within minutes of this I can drop down to feeling so low I can't cope and that's as much detail I will go into for my low period as I don't want to trigger anyone here. It's the same with anger, anxiety - it can just come out of nowhere and hit me like a big truck. These are rapid cycles inbetween my bigger periods. Does that make sense?? am I alone with this? How do I even explain that to my psychiatrist?

Medication helps me, but I still need to track, if only for myself as well as my mental health support team. Do you guys have any good recommendations for single work sheets that I can use as my mood diary? I've looked online and a lot are too generalised and I'm more looking for a BPD related one than a Bipolar one.

Sorry if that was a rant, I'm in quite a mixed state at the moment.

Hope you guys are good

I don't know any diaries to recommend, I just wanted to drop a post and say "you poor kid, that sounds awful, I hope you find relief" and then a hug.
