Not 'present'

Postby jill121 » Sat May 02, 2015 10:06 pm

Hi
I feel like I am not 'present'. It's like someone can be talking to me but my mind is on another universe and has slowed. I feel like my personality and me is not all there. This is getting me really down. Can anyone relate to this or know how to resolve this?
Thanks

Disassociation?/depersonalization? or the changing of persona to deal with trauma? I sometimes get it but its only for a few hours? I know people who have it for days/weeks.

It sounds like you are describing dissociation or derealization.

avoid the places/people where you dissociate.

if its in excess then mindfullness exercises will help. counting to 40, identifying 10 objects around you.

be safe. it can be dangerous. i remember times when i crossed roads haphazardly.

I don't know what it is.. Maybe depersonalisation, but there's this silence in my head. It's like I can react like myself to conversations and just feel a fog and confusion

I feel exactly the same way, like there's a dull version of me on the outside and no matter how hard I try the version of myself that I see never shows through.

It's aggravating to say the least.

Probably since I was at least twelve years old I would say. Its just how I am, I can't tell if its real and I'm just unable to express myself properly or if I have some idealistic image of myself that isn't reflected in the way I act.
