Just watched Psycho 4

And oh my God, I always just believed Hitchcock MAYBE based Norman and his mother's behavior and relationship on BPD (also psychosis, of course), but whoever wrote Psycho 4 thought that too. And wrote the whole Norma character based on BPD, it seems.

Her behavior, specially in one particular "rage" scene when she finds out a highway isn't going to be built near her motel, is a fantastic portrayal of a BPD rage.

Olivia Hussey did a very nice job as Norma Bates. I highly recommend Psycho 4 to anyone who wants to see BPD represented in movies in an astonishingly accurate manner.

I have no concrete information, but I seriously believe the writers and possibly Olivia Hussey really did research in BPD to construct her character.

The movie as a whole, meh, worst Psycho of all, though.

Hello who38, how you've been?

Wiki's entry says sometime in the movie, it as alluded the Norma Bates character has BPD and schizophrenia. Didn't catch that.

This person reviewing the movie salients the portray of BPD in it:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102724/reviews-72

That's some information. :)

Psycho is based of the life and murders of ed gein and his strict religious upbringing with his mom when she died he kinda went real loopy and started collecting skin also the basis for silence of the lambs and texas chinsaw massacre and a few other movies. I don't know but I beive he was a plain psychopath but but maybe a sociopath. I don't know.

Yeah, I'm aware. His mother was portrayed as a BPD on the Ed Gein movie, but THAT was intentionall. Actually an idea of the guy who played Ed (he also played Charles Manson).

In real life, Ed Gein never had a precise diagnosis. They excluded schizophrenia or any other illness regarding psychosis, as we was always concious and aware. His family life really ressonates one with a BPD mother. I think Ed maybe was biologically healthy, but his upbringing and completely loneliness just made his personality something as unique as it was twisted.

On Psycho IV, there is some intended BPD going, I strongly believe.
