saw my therapist last friday.

Postby Cheebs » Tue Jun 10, 2014 12:28 pm

i feel a bit better after seeing her. it was nice to get some stuff out. though i was all over the place. she says i have a lot of psychological issues lol. YOU DON'T SAY.

she's real nice though. she told me to stay off the internet in regards to trying to figure myself out. probably some good advice, i've already stopped though. i like it here though, feels good to not feel alone about stuff, even if i don't have teh same diagnosis. hoping to see her again in a month or so that will be my 4th visit with her. hopefully i can see her more often so i can really work through stuff.

nothing yet. i had never seen a therapist before except once when i was in junior high. my mother felt i needed to talk to someone because i wouldn't leave my room and all i cared about was getting lost in a book. but i never opened up then. i just kinda deflected everything until it looked like my mom had a problem and not me.

i hit all the markers for bpd though. but i'm going to let her diagnose me. she brought up adhd in my last session. she thinks its a big possibility for me. she wants to talk to me more and get more into it. i kinda touched on a lot of things in that one session. i think next time i want to try really hard to stay on one subject and work that out. i think that would benefit me more than jumping from issue to issue to issue.

i don't want to bring up bpd with her. i want to let her do all the diagnosis work. i'm going to see her again next month. i wish i could see her when i get paid every two weeks instead but i don't think we can afford that right now.

I'm so glad you're able to open up to her. Let her know that you want to focus on one topic and I bet she'll work that out.

Are you going to be doing DBT?

*Virtual high five* It's great that you saw someone! Go you! It's seriously a hard thing to do for a lot of people. Even though I've always been able to afford therapy, I've still had periods where I refused to go.

I would suggest bringing up BPD just because shrinks are cautious about diagnosing it due to the stigma. It also can be really hard to spot when mixed up in other issues.

I'm also co-morbid ADHD, although I've had that diagnosis since I was about 3. But I'm happy to talk to you about the intersections I've found between my two diagnoses if you'd like.

right now we're just talking and getting to know me. once she as an idea of what i'm going through i'm hoping that DBT will be an option. :)

yes please i'd love to compare notes per say :)

i want to bring it up with her, but i'm thinking i should hold off until she learns more about me. if i bring it up now i'm worried she'll dismiss it. also i want to see if she comes to the same conclusions without my suggestion to give her a bias one way or another.
