Struggling

Postby AJ01 » Sun May 04, 2014 9:58 am

Hi,
I was diagnosed with bpd recently and since then it feels like i can't breathe. I feel like i am completely be myself and it is never going to feel any better. I don't have a support system and everyone elses actions feel like they are designed purely to work against me. My family just assume its something i will deal with by myself and it will be fixed right away. I dont think i have the strength to beat this. I can barely get out of bed in the morning. Its getting harder and harder to convince myself to keep living because as much as i tell myself tomorrow might be better, it never is, it just gets worse
I want so badly to feel good about myself but its never happened before and i dont think it ever will

I wish I could offer words of inspiration and encouragement, but if I'm honest, I really can't. All I can say is that it sucks, totally. And you're not alone in feeling it.

Some people on here claim to have come out the other side. Maybe those are the ones who need to be talking instead of me.

There's no doubt that we are at the "stone age" when it comes to mental health treatment. Look up some history info on how long it took society to understand basic medical issues. They have barely even dipped their toes into how to help those of us with mental disabilities.

I'm sorry that you are feeling overwhelmed right now. It can get better. DBT helps, EFT helps, meditation helps, being on this board helps...

You are the exact same wonderful person you were before the diagnosis, but the truth is that our path isn't an easy one. There are benefits to it. You have skills that others don't, but unfortunately, most of us struggle in ways that others don't. The hope is that we learn the coping skills to improve on our weaknesses so that our incredible strengths finally get respected and appreciated.

All I know to do is to encourage you to give it one more day. And tomorrow, give it one more day. It gets a little easier with time and a lot easier with support. Just know that you are never alone. I hope youfeel better soon.
