Hey I was just reading through some of your experiences with Complex Needs and it's awful that you've had such bad times with it. I was referred to Complex Needs a few months ago after being diagnosed BPD while i was an inpatient. Basically my experience of Complex Needs has been really positive so far. I'm in the DBT programme though so maybe that has something to do with it. My therapist is lovely and really understanding. I have been in Psychoanalytical Therapy before and oh my god I hated it. Therapist was a total bitch and it just wasn't helpful in the slightest. I guess it all depends on what part of the Complex Needs programme you get referred to
Basically what we have here is a dreamer. Somebody out of touch with reality. When she jumped, she probably thought she'd fly."

Yeh I'm going to be doing MBT and everyone at this place seems alright. Fingers crossed.
As I said the guy who will be doing the individual part of my therapy seems really nice and supportive. So I'm hopeful!

Your story has given me encouragement now everglow...can't believe you stuck it out after all that! What a terrible thing to say

I'm so tempted to call up and ask to be referred to a diff part of complex needs! I wanted DBT, hadn't been told it'd be all Freudian. I'll ask asap! Thank you, really glad I read this thread before going ahead with my plan.

Hi All,
Your post made me think of all the other names for BPD, and the idea that the stigma associated with discorder has to do with the fact that there is a label attached to outward observable symptoms rather than the subjective experience of the individual experiencing the disorder. Here are the names for BPD. I find Emotional Regulation Disorder to be the least offensive, and Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder to be the most inflammatory. What do you think?
•Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
•Emotional Regulation Disorder (ERD)
•Emotional Dysregulation Disorder
• Emotional Intensity Disorder (EID)
•Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD)
•Emotion-Impulse Regulation Disorder (EIRD)
•Impulsive Personality Disorder (IPD)
