Matrix ReImprinting

Hello,

My therapist wants to try something called Matrix Imprinting during our next session she said that it takes up to two hours and works with entering initial trama. Like tapping it is not an evidence based therapy but has apparently been very effective in treating people with BPD traits.


Does anyone have any experiences with this type of treatment/therapy?

I just look up what MR is and the videos I find look like infomercials - not looking forward to it

I have not heard of this. From their website it looks like a new age type of thing.

Ok so I've been through one session of EFT/Matrix Reimprinting. I went into the session not very impressed with what I saw online. The videos of the treatment seemed too New Age and although I am very open I was skeptical.

Emotional Freedom Technique. You may have heard of it involves tapping on acupuncture points while focussing on a negative feelimg. There is wording involved while tapping. There is a lot of information online about both techniques and I guess some people may be successful using them on their own but going though it with a therapist was very valuable.

Matrix Reimprinting uses EFT while accessing memories that are emotionally charged and connected to core issues/ beliefs /traumas. The idea is that by accessing these memories, you explore the feelings that occured at the time some of which have rendered you stuck in areas that you may be experiencing problems in/ maybe trauma. I don't like the word rewrite so I'll say you are given the opportunity to reexperience the memory slow enough that you with the help of the therapist see how the self limiting beliefs were developed. The memory is then neutralized because you are approaching it from an adult perspective- you don't forget the memory you just don't feel it anymore. The theory is basically that if you feel any negative emotion while recalling a past traumatic event, it will effect the way you live your life in the present. You change the blueprint of how you react in similar situations.

I've only had one treatment but so far, I'm very happily surprised!
