something that helps me. Not trying to spread it.

I recently rededicated myself as a Christian, and i feel as if it has helped me immensely. I never fully left christianity, but ever since i was diagnosed with schizophrenia, i sort of stopped worshipping my God. I felt as though he had abandoned me. And i found out, he never left. hes still with me. I don't know all of your stances on religion, but i feel it helps me because i can take my problems to him, and leave them there. But i'm not trying to convert you, I feel that is wrong. You could have the same experience with buddhism or any other religion.

I heard my god talk to me once before. recently too, he told me my prayers would be answered. I honestly believe it was god too. Because every time its ever happened to me, what i had been praying for happened.

Yes, I worship God in the AA sense, loosely based upon Jesus Christ and undergirded by a generic spiritual formation from the Gita.

I have a mix of faith, I'm not one religion. I identify with different parts of different ones.

But there are certain things I can't resolve that cause me problems with believing. Like if someone is married more than once and people are 'reunited' in heaven, then which husband or wife does the person spend eternity with? Why did whatever Devine being give us the method of killing each other so violently in so many ways and why did they give us the capacity to hate? Why do they allow so many people to die for their or other people's religious beliefs? Why do they say so many things are a sin if you can then be absolved of sins on your deathbed. It's like saying do whatever you want to do & hurt whoever you want as long as you say sorry at the end. Why in Catholicism does the Father have the power to absolve all sins? Why doesn't it matter wether they apologise to the person they sinned against as long as they say sorry to a church rep? Why do most religions preach kindness and love to fellow man but then tell you a million reasons to hate them or shun them based on things they have no choice over?

There's loads more, but those jump straight to mind.

I was raised as a Christian, but not just go-to-church-and-be-good, but to really talk to God all the time and have a relationship. When I had blind faith and believed in all of that, I really was happier. Unfortunately, as I matured, I began to realize how much judgment and hatred were mixed in with all of the love associated with religion, and I also saw how much science was behind every emotion. Now, nothing makes sense to me because EVERYTHING collides and I just feel stuck in a black hole of meaningless existence. Hold on to your faith, it's especially good for you.
It is my goal to define myself by my actions, not by my labels.

I recognize the fact that spiritual practices produce reactions in the brain that give us happy, transcendent feelings, similar to some drugs. This has been shown with scientific evidence. However, I am an atheist which means I don't believe there is actually any deity or deities-- it's a brain reaction, and for me, that's all it has to be to be amazing. On occasion, I engage in church services or a prayer in the morning, and although I do not believe there is any one on the receiving end, I enjoy the ritual acts nevertheless. They were probably fundamental in hominid evolution.

Iv found a lot of help and answers in Buddhism this year. I believe that people are brought to their religions for different reasons. It's good to have faith in something, when the world seems like it's turning it's back, spirituality is there

If i wasnt a christian, i would be a buddhist. I agree with it so much. it has a lot of truth to it. Christianity has allowed me to take my problems to God and leave them there. As i posted he may be talking to me when i pray, but it could be my schizophrenia. But i'm going to ask my pastor what he believes about it. Because If he says god could be talking to me, I'll listen to him. I'll report what god tells me to do to him too. hes never told me to do anything bad. God tells me to forgive people that have wronged me, and also to be a better person. He told me my prayers would be answered when he talked to me, and usually when i hear that, what i have prayed for happens. Might not happen right away, but happens in his time.
