I wonder............

Postby Cate68 » Fri Sep 27, 2013 4:42 pm

If Borderline personality is a combination of a learning disability, C-PTSD and learned helplessness and if exacerbation (to make worse, to amplify) from role confusion/discrimination against women by society makes it more difficult for women with BPD.

What say you\........limbic system and amagdyla brain anomalies aside?
One of the greatest blasphemies is the taking of one's freedom of thought, dictating matters of the heart and the theft of another's personal peace.

Everyday I live is an act of rebellion.

Complex PTSD is definitely something to think about it.
Helplessness... Well yes, but where does it come from? Childhood, most probably.

Learning disability... Not sure about this one.
Personally I don't remember having much trouble learning anything but I may be in denial.
Now it's different though - I can hardly learn anything new. Literally.

About the role society plays in all this, I think it may have to do with the promotion of a "perfect" woman who is basically Superwoman - women have to look beautiful, thin, have a career, build a family, take care of their families, be a good friend, and so on. That's just too much pressure and I think that's the reason so many women feel "not enough" from a very young age. When women start comparing themselves to other women, they ones they see on the street or in magazines and on TV, that can have a very negative effect on their self-esteem and can lead to all kinds of issues like eating disorders, depression, and attachment issues based on insecurity (a lot of women are afraid they will be left for someone "better" than them). So that can exacerbate the possibility of developing BPD or other PD's.

I have no idea about learning difficulties. I mean I could never register what I was being taught and would get frustrated. I ended up skipping classes because it just never made sense no matter how many times I was told how to do something. PTSD is a huge thing to look at, I have been told I have that but never really believed it.
