Complex PTSD is definitely something to think about it.
Helplessness... Well yes, but where does it come from? Childhood, most probably.
Learning disability... Not sure about this one.
Personally I don't remember having much trouble learning anything but I may be in denial.
Now it's different though - I can hardly learn anything new. Literally.
About the role society plays in all this, I think it may have to do with the promotion of a "perfect" woman who is basically Superwoman - women have to look beautiful, thin, have a career, build a family, take care of their families, be a good friend, and so on. That's just too much pressure and I think that's the reason so many women feel "not enough" from a very young age. When women start comparing themselves to other women, they ones they see on the street or in magazines and on TV, that can have a very negative effect on their self-esteem and can lead to all kinds of issues like eating disorders, depression, and attachment issues based on insecurity (a lot of women are afraid they will be left for someone "better" than them). So that can exacerbate the possibility of developing BPD or other PD's.
