Hey there, are you ok? I do not think that of you, and I'm sure everyone else here would agree with me. No one is worthless, and we all deserve those things. I understand feeling that way towards yourself, I do it a lot, but we have to realize that we are not bad people, and that the things we think we deserve are not always the truth.

i like that there is still some cuteness to me (though it's not really apparent on the forum) even as i grow older...

Hey. Maybe this is a language barrier, but what does that mean?

I'm not sure what I like about myself. I've kind of got to rediscover a lot of that. :-)

That is an attractive trait. Nicely done.

i think there's still a certain child-like curiosity and silliness to me even though i am likely too old for that ;)

Haha. No you are not too old for that! I hope you never lose that. It's a great trait to have :-)

I can be beautifully reckless.
My naturally thick wavy lovely hair.
I am highly intelligent.
I am athletic and competitive.
I love to read; I get lost in fiction novels and stimulate my intellect with academic texts.
I am ambitious.
My sense of humor is very satirical and sarcastic.
Curiosity killed the cat, I know, but I always try to land on my feet.
I have fabulous time management skills.
I am colorblind (red-green).
I self-identify as a radical feminist.
My younger brother still looks up to me, even with all the mistakes I have made.
I am very open and non-judgmental.
I am sexy (and I know it, sometimes).
I am one of the most resilient people that I know, and am very proud of all that I have survived.

sounds to me like you might feel self conscious for having shared things that you like about yourself with the forum.

can you think about why you might feel uncomfortable sharing that sort of thing? is it because you are not seeing your own inherent worth or value?

you know...the world has room in it for you. and people choose to express their emotions towards you because you have a place in their lives.

i would like to challenge what you are stating as "truth" and ask if you'd be willing to consider some other possibilities. one of them being that you are not open to receiving positive feedback from others currently because of the way you look at yourself.

Thanks for your message, littlearcher. I think I know why I'm reacting this way:

I AM SICK AND TIRED OF MY OWN SELF-DEFEATING BEHAVIORS. EVERYTHING I DO SEEMS TO GO WRONG. AS THEY SAY, "EVERYTHING I TOUCH TURNS TO S**T". EVERY DAY AND NIGHT, I WATCH PEOPLE WHO SEEM TO DO EVERYTHING RIGHT, YET, I CAN'T DO A SINGLE THING RIGHT. EVERYTHING I DO COMES BACK TO BITE ME. GIVEN HOW MUCH I HAVE F**KED UP IN MY LIFE, I'M AMAZED THAT I'M STILL AROUND.

Again, thanks for your concern. I really appreciate you hearing me out (on several of my posts).
The gym will never say "no" to you, and neither will a bowl of food.

My mind will always be sick, but who says my body also has to be ?

Lilodian,
I just want to point out a few things that I see about you. HUGE accomplishments and challenges that you have overcome. You MUSNT forget these things:

*You graduated from college with a degree in engineering! You did THAT right!!! Do you have any idea how difficult that major is? I could NOT have done that. The mathematics and schematics and all the rest. That is exceeding difficult for ALOT of people!!!! Very ambitious of you!
*You moved here from a totally different country, with a completely different culture, thousands of miles away. And you managed to make a life for yourself here. That is HUGE accomplishment! HUGE! Very courageous!!!!
*You have created what sounds like a wonderful home for yourself. The way you redid everything and created ambience. That took time, effort, patience, and creativity! It took vision. Which a lot of people cant say they have. A lot of people just slap a few photos on the wall, get a couch outta the garbage, and they're done. You went above and beyond that, in a very artistic way. You took pride in it. You did THAT right also!

It is a very dangerous thing to compare our lives to others lives. It is never a good idea. I am guilty of this, and inevitably feel like complete crap, every time I do this. But it is very important to remember that even though others outward appearance may make them seem happy, successful etc. I would bet that no one is as happy as they seem on the outside. Everyone has problems, everyone has a hidden pain, everyone has a hole they are trying to fill.
Just as an example I'd like to mention Angelina Jolie. Outwardly, she is rich and famous, beautiful and married to the ultimate hottie, with all those kids etc etc. You would think her life is perfect and she is perfectly happy. Right? BUT WAIT! She tested positive for the same cancer gene that killed her mother and had to have a preemptive DOUBLE MASTECTOMY! An intensely invasive and painful surgery to be sure! And she lost one of the best sets of boobs on the planet! Just as an aside, I heard she is also borderline or has borderline tendencies and used to self injure. She is also estranged from her father, John Voight. Which I assure you causes her deep pain. If you were simply to look at her, you would not see her pain, you would only see what looks like an ideal life. I would wager that when you look at the people that you think are doing everything right, they have hidden pain and problems also. And they have ALL made mistakes too! This is the human condition!

You seem to think that because your life is not necessarily the way you want it, that you are in some way at fault for that. I understand this thinking all too well. But we CANT keep thinking this way. It only serves to drag us and our self esteem down further. Please don't feel like a failure at life! I just don't see it. I see someone who is exceedingly kind, just from the way you reach out to people here and offer support and encouragement. I can tell that you are a sweet, gentle and loving person. Again, from what you've said to me and others here.
PLease, Just for at least one day. See yourself as others see you. Stop blaming yourself and beating yourself up over everything. I just listed over a half a dozen qualities that make you wonderful. And I don't even know you!

I like that learning programming languages is a piece of cake for me.
I'm currently fluent in: XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, PHP, MySQL, Processing and Python.
