Hi all, I'm new here, been diagnosed almost two years now, getting slightly better but have major sticking point with feeling empty, not feeling much joy. Anyone have any tips to get thru the day to day stuff like cooking, eating, working...
Thanks

It's very very hard. I try to approach things with an almost singular focus. So at work, I have to reply to 10 emails an hour. I try to do 15. Head down, email, email, email, email. I'm usually far above anyone else in the team. Unless I'm having an exceptionally off day then I struggle to do 5 an hour lol.
Other than that I don't really know. A lot of people say music helps but to me it can, but it can also make things a whole lot worse.

Hey thanks for the reply, that's a good suggestion, i will definitely try it. A lot like be in the moment as DBT would say i guess.
As for the music thing i totally understand, I either feel totally uplifted by a good song or it will sometimes floor me completely but often fills me with something.

I also struggle with this a lot. While I don't always feel a lot of joy even in the things I do that are positive, I feel it helps to schedule short periods of time doing them anyway because it helps me recharge a little bit or even just gives me a break from the god-awful stuff that saps away all of my energy. Having a schedule with time to recharge has been key.

For me, the emptiness only goes away when I feel a 'connection' with something - usually another person. Most of my emptiness is rooted in feeling alone and distant from everything. Other options are what everyone else suggested, becoming occupied with something else. I just know that what works for me is doing something that feels really important to me.
