Just get over it

Postby DollsAndPins » Mon Jun 10, 2013 3:02 am

I am sure that most of you understand just how evil that saying is...'Just get over it' Or the other classic...'Snap out of it' I am so sick of people saying this to me, if it was as simple as 'getting over it' don't you not think I would be over it by now!?!?!? For fcuk sake!

agreed... I bet they don't tell people with cancer to "just get over it" or to someone who lost their legs...

when someone says you get over it, the person is doing it
because he wants you to be better,no one wants to see the other person crying, the person is trying to help you. he doesnt understand bpd and what your going through

imagine a baby is crying in front of you. what can you do, you pat it, sing a song, play with it, but what if it's got some internal physical pain...that's the problem here. the other person isnt aware of your challenge. so it's difficult for him to understand

The people who say that usually aren't worth knowing, IMO haha. They've never experienced that and lack the insight to offer up any proper advice.

**WARNING MIGHT TRIGGER**

if we know that the other person wont understand then we should stop seeking advice from them, i know it's easy to say and tough to do.

The malicious side of me wants them to become depressed so I can spew their words back at them.

The absolute worst for me is 'just grow up'.

The fact of the matter is, is that if they do not understand what it's like then they shouldn't say anything, but it's people that are close to me that are not willing to educate themselves and who think it just a matter of snapping out of it. It is so frustrating. I wont even go to them for help but if they see I am having one of my little episodes apparently I should just get over it. I'm really going through a disliking everyone mood at the moment lol :x
Maybe everyone else just needs to get over the fact that I can't just snap out of it.

I have heard those phrases a lot and I tend to brush them off... now anyways, it used to hurt a lot.

The person saying such a thing has the issue, lack of understanding and compassion so I let them crack on with that, not my problem its there's and I don't need those comment to weigh me down.
