I'm New.. help? xx

Postby Chubs » Wed Feb 20, 2013 12:47 pm

Hey..
Really confused on this forum, going to take me a little while to figure out i think.

So i'm almost 23. Been what i thought was 'depressed' since around the age 14. Started self harming at 14, which has never really stopped.. and only last week i got diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. In a way its good to finally be diagnosed with something, but in another way i feel like i've been thrown in the deep end and have no idea how to deal with it or what i can do to cope with it better?

I'd love to talk to anyone in the same situation x

Hey hun,

I'm glad you have found your way here, I haven't been here too long but knowing I'm not the only person dealing with this some times helps me. I now know there are people out there who really understand me and I've never had that before.

I'm also 22 and was diagnosed a few weeks ago although I was already suspicious that I had BPD so it wasn't so much of a shock to hear it when a Psychiatrist finally saw me. I was also palmed off with depression for years and years and have had problems since I was about 12, maybe even younger.

For me, finally being told I had BPD was a relief, there was finally an explanation for why I had felt different for pretty much my whole life, and now I know what it is and why I think and feel the way I do I can start working on it. I have a start point now, whereas before I was just told to take my anti-Ds and get on with it which didn't seem to be getting me anywhere!

Have a look around the other topics to find answers and if you can't see anything you want to ask then make your own :)

Welcome! I know what you mean, when I was diagnosed it took me some time to be able to comprehend what was happening. I think that's something pretty much everyone goes through. Seeing other people who have similar problems to me is extremely reassuring when I feel like an outcast for how I feel. People around here are friendly and helpful, and as maybewhoknows said, feel free to look around and ask anything you need to. I wish you luck.
