I need suggestions!

Postby Mavet » Sun Jan 06, 2013 8:13 am

So at therapy last week I finally got to bring in my boyfriend and talk about my issues. So basically the thing she wants us to do is to have a day every week or two where we're not together.

What I don't know is what to do with myself during these days. I live sort of in the middle of nowhere and don't have a lot of money. I need to keep myself occupied so that it becomes easier to be apart, but I don't know what to do or anything. Any suggestions on how to keep busy?
We're all mad here.

I got nothing BUT suggestions! ;)

If this were me, I would seriously have a heart attack. Because I can't stand sleeping alone. If that weren't an issue, I would make some serious plans with someone you feel equally (or almost) important in your life. Something preferably that takes a long time or several small things that occupy a lot of time combined (maybe get outta town on a small road-trip, or make a special girls day for mani/pedi's, get your hair done, go to the spa, get a massage, etc). Something to spoil you ladies. If money is an issue then take turns doing those things for each other, even if you're bad at it you'll still have a laugh at how AWFUL you are as a cosmetologist.. I klnow you mentioned living far away, I'm not sure if you also meant far away from your friends/family. In that case, make yourself a list of really big projects that would make you feel awesome to tackle .. like cleaning out your garage, or organizing your closet. Make sure that (if you're allowed) you can call & talk to your man periodically as well. Hope this helps! You've GOT to keep busy!

Wineaux: Some of them do look interesting. I can actually think of a way to group a few of them into big expedition-type things, which would be kind of cool. Thanks. :)

Maniacal: I definitely need to learn to keep myself busy. I feel like that'd make things so much different than now, where I just kind of sit around and do nothing.

I imagine the exercise is intended to let you learn that you can be apart, and to face the anxiety and abandonment experience.

I suppose the degree that you go into the world and don't just latch onto another person would be based on how much discomfort you can tolerate. I'd think solo activities would be best if you can be comfortable.

I know it's not an answer really, just a thought.

Get on pinterest. It will keep you occupied for hours. There are recipes and quotes and do it yourself projects and arts and crafts and so on. And you can create your own boards. You just have to check it out. If you do...I hope it helps. :)
