Prescribed Prozac yesterday? Haven't taken it yet.

Just wondering if anyone else is on this or has been? If so, what were your side effects and did it help? Ive went without medicine for a loooong time but after almost 5 months of doing only therapy and seeing no change, I'm willing to try medicine.

Anti depressives are a rocky subject, yes they do help IF you get the right ones, but this is trial and error.

Neither Prozac or Seroxat worked for me, or the side effects outweighed the good, i do have good experiences on Efexor XR ( Venlafaxine ) which is an SNRI.

Try the Prozac ( and beware these type of drugs can take from 6 to 8 weeks to ''work'' ) if you feel no change on Prozac ask for another AD, but keep working on it, since the goods outweigh the bad in the end if you find the right one.
i got rid of most of my suicidal thoughts on them, though you won't feel 100% all the time, not even on this kind of stuff.

Good Luck.

Death stared for a minute and replied : '' because my dear, you are a beautiful lie and i am a painful truth ''

Thanks! I've tried Effexor, Zoloft, lexapro, Wellbutrin, cymbalta, and seroquel. The only things that have ever helped me are Xanax and trazadone. Everytime I mention 0.25 mg Xanax worked for me to a doctor they act like I'm a junkie so I've basically given up on getting that help...even though I know it works and controls my panic attacks and I have the self control for it. I was prescribed 30 in August of last year and still have one left... Trazadone also calms me down and helps me sleep. I'm pretty desperate at this point so I guess time will tell. Any symptom relief would be appreciated.

I've tried Prozac (Fluoxetine), Effexor XL (Venlafaxine), Sertaline and Citalopram.

Prozac I found didn't help me with anything - Skittles have more of an effect lol and didn't get any side effects from it.

Effexor XL I found made me go weirder like I had bi-polar, couldn't sleep, go on rambling about some crap, paranoid and just completely loopy.

Sertraline I found I was calmer, no side effects

Citalopram is my favourite, stops my anxiety, stops me smoking and biting my nails and stops the crying and impulsive/OCD behaviors. No side effects

Anti D's are hit and miss, I'm going to go back on Citaloprams as they're the best for me. Prozac should be fine if they don't work try something different. Good luck :)
