An Interesting Morning

Permanent Linkby CrackedGirl on Thu May 24, 2012 3:01 pm

Well I had an interesting morning today. I offered to help at a kids' play thing held in the church hall as they need volunteers. When I was there I met three interesting characters who were somewhat amusing.

Person A. Perhaps the most annoying. Trained me how to wash up and make toast as these are skills I have not thus far developed in my life. Liked to be in charge and liked to be bossy too. I dont know what I was thinking when I accidently said sh*t to her as I was trying to avoid saying butt. Why did I think sh*t was better. Oops. Anyhow she was def someone you would not want to mess with and also someone who I imagine does not like to not be in control. I had to have separate washing up bowls for separate things as well or I got into trouble lol. I think Cracked is going to get into trouble with this person. But I put on my terribly respectful public school girl personality and did as I was told.

Person B. Person A's husband. Not a bad guy actually and kept giving me pep talks when I was doing things wrong. However he did take me from the kitchen to a circle of mothers, fathers and grandparents with their kids and make me lead them in singing nursery rhymes having announced I sing in a choir and have a wonderful voice  So that was him...

Person C. "Pops in to help out" and ex dinner lady - you know the sort. Thankfully she did not tell me about her corns but she did tell me about everything else in her life. However she became my friend as we were both clearly the kitchen skivvies.

So I had a day - and I am going back next month to do it all again

Hugs all

Mind

Permanent Linkby CrackedGirl on Wed May 23, 2012 12:27 pm

Yesterday I had a good day - I went with my support worker on a bus I have not got before instead of getting a cab and went for an assessment at a Mind centre. It was to see if there are any activities I might be interested in doing to get out more and build confidence and stuff. I liked the sound of the music one and she said further down the line I might like to consider facilitating it too. There were some others I liked the sound of too but I have decided to think about them before signing up.

The assessment was quite intense including a thorough risk assessment which was painful as I had to revisit things in my past like the suicide attempt. I also had to talk about self harm and pills. I mean I could lie but I think it is better to be open and honest about this and she said it would not go anywhere - notably the GMC :|

I have to wait for a formal letter before I am allowed to go but hopefully it will be good - plus my support worker is going to come with me again for the next session so I can get a bit more used to the bus route. Man it is long - about an hour.

Anyhow that was what I did yesterday

Huge hugs to all

One Gig Done & Dusted!!!

Permanent Linkby CrackedGirl on Sun May 20, 2012 11:34 pm

I had a gig yesterday - it was really cool - it is the big one I have been practising for. The choir sang and I also played some of my own songs. Other ppl did sets too and it was really fun. I got lots of compliments on my pieces and ppl said that I seemed really confident and that they were surprised by that which was a nice thing to say as I think ppl think I am a bit on the quiet side usually. It is weird because even tho I think I prob am faily quiet I dont think I am as quiet and introverted as I come across. It is that thing of not projecting the person who you think you are to the rest of the world. Like at the gig we needed to collect money for the choir and I would think I would be good at that but that must not be the impression I give of being outgoing ebought to do it as the person in charge was reluctant to ask me to do it. She did but in the end I gave the collecting thing to someone else as her reticense made me worry about doing it. But I am glad that I could show ppl that I am not this little mouse and that I also got to show them my music. And apart from anything else it was really fun  8) The choir performed too and we did a good job. All in all a very fun night that was finished off by hanging out with my mate who is lovely.

Huge hugs to you all

Cracked The Tourist

Permanent Linkby CrackedGirl on Fri May 11, 2012 11:44 am

I am on my travels and staying with masq. This has involved wine, take out, smoking too many cigs as I have still "quit" and eating veggie percy pigs  It has also involved being very busy and being a tourist to the point yesterday where I was walking around with my camera round my neck :dork:

We went shopping and I got yet another dress as I clearly dont have enough already. It is very pretty and very nice and almost too big which is lovely as it is a size smaller than I usually get and it is from Primark which is not famous for having generous dress sizes

So after breakfast and a pint  we headed to get the ferry cross the Mersey and I managed to take some photos standing on a ridiculously windy deck.

We then got a tourist bus where the driver was nice and gave us a discounted price. It pootled around Liverpool and we went to the Catholic Cathedral first - it is stunning. Beautiful stained glass and lovely little chapels. I managed to get some pics with no flash despite having stupid lithium tremors so a slower shutter speed. Then coffee and present time and then on to the Anglican cathedral which is also amazing and huge. We wandered round there then perused the books and I bought masq The Shack which if you have not read it is well worth a read.

Met up with someone and then got back to masq's finally and had a well deserved chinese - I got to have bean curd which is my all time favourite food ever

More wine then bedfordshire.

Today is going to be a little more chilled then we are back off tom to see the museum probably - I love museums :dork:

Then back home on Sunday where normal forum service will resume.

Huge hugs to you all
