DO YOU TALK TO YOURSELF?

Postby tjohns14 » Tue May 22, 2012 5:30 pm

I wanted to check something out with everyone here. I talk to my self allot. Its kinda funny actually my wife came out to the garage the other night and said who is here with you? I said no one just me. She replied i could hear you talking to someone. And i laughed and continued on with my work.

I do this daily i sometimes joke and say its only wrong if i answer myself but i do answer myself. Its kinda like a soundboard. I dont hear other voices i just like the dialog its my way of working things out.

Yes, talking to myself is my main coping mechanism when I need to process something. I do talk and answer myself, having my own conversation. It's worked very well for me when I need to work something out to myself. The fact that I answer myself is what helps me see things in an objective manner outside of my normal thinking process.

I know that people have said what makes it crazy is if you reply to yourself, but I don't think it's crazy at all. I think it's a natural thing people do when they are alone. Some people just don't want to admit that they do it.

I talk to myself, I don't even think I realise I do it. I talk to my cat like he's human too LOL.

I was caught out by someone talking to myself a couple of weeks ago. They said 'You know that's the first sign of going crazy?'... what? really? I thought I was getting better!! hahahah... I was just trying to get the statistics I was reading to make sense :P

I talk to myself sometimes and always to my cat. I think everyone does that with pets though.

I did a lot as a kid. If I were diagnosed as a kid, I probably would have been tagged with some form of psychosis. For example, lots of imaginary friends, believing that everyone in the world could read minds except me, etc. Fortunately, a lot of those strange beliefs seemed to go away once I reached puberty.
