I am taking Lamotrogine (currently 75mg, I'm titrating up). I have a contraceptive implant.
My psych said that the my implant will be fine and there should be no interaction. I have been on Lamotrogine for 4weeks now and I have had two period in that time. I got the implant fitted a year ago and have never had a period in that time yet I have had 2 since starting on Lamotrogine. I am now reluctant to believe that there is no interaction between the two.
I quite like Lamotrogine but I don't want to get pregnant so I am considering going back to quietapine even though it sedated me a lot.
What are other people experience with contraception and epileptic drugs?

I've had doctors give me bad info about interactions with birth control before. If you're not sure the best resource you have is your pharmacist. They usually love it when people have questions.
Sometimes a new med can cause disruption to the menstrual cycle. If you're uncertain it's best if you use a back up method of contraception until you can speak with the pharmacist.
Blame it on me, but know that I won't regret one iota.

That's a very technical question Betty. Your going to have to ask a medical proffesional or, as Ladyswan suggested, a pharmacist.
*hug* Betty. Take care.

I am on lamotrigine but not birth control measures. I would suggest that you do discuss this with your pharmacist - it sounds like for you there might be come correlation - but this would need to be looked into by a professional. Let us know how you go.
