Zyprexa Causing Very Realistic Dreams?

Postby justjesse » Wed Oct 05, 2011 5:46 pm

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone that was on / is on Zyprexa has it caused you to have very vivid dreams that seem almost like real life. I've been having scarily real dreams / nightmares since I started Zyprexa. I wake up knowing that it was a dream. But in the moment it seems so real. For example, last night I had a dream I was in a major car wreck and was thrown from the car and died. It scared me half to death and I woke up out of a dead sleep because of it.

But on the other hand since I've started it I've felt a lot more stable. Not as many ups and downs like I had been having. I'm so torn on what to do. :|

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advace.

Hi Jesse - I get that with both that and mirtazepine, it is scary but it is a known side effect and nothing to worry about, you are not alone. I think if it is making you feel more stable try to bear with it.

Thanks for the input Cracked. I'll try and stay on it as I have been more stable.

How are you doing?

While on Zyprexa I started to have lucid dreams mixed with nightmares, false awakenings and sleep paralysis. On a few occasions they all blended together for some really, really ###$ up nights. I can't be certain for sure if it was the Zyprexa but that particular mix of nastiness hasn't happened in 10 years which happens to be how long ago I stopped the drug.

If you can handle the dreams and they're not upsetting you very much then stick with the med. I would have loved to stay on Zyprexa at the time but the dreams combined with the massive weight gain was too much to handle. It did wonders for my stability.
Blame it on me, but know that I won't regret one iota.

Sounds a bit of a difficult situation for you. Do you think you could ask for a specific med review as it is affecting your diabetes?

Hope things get sorted
