I had some serious stress in my life and I turned to alcohol like an idiot.
My anxiety is so bad right now I cannot take it. I have missed two days of work. My shrink is in sabbatical and replacement cannot see me till Monday. If I could get replacement for Ativan I will be ok. Who can I see to get refill?
I could get a couple beers till Monday but who knows if I'll even go if I go back in the bender? I'm trying to quit the drink again but this anxiety is just miserable.

Are you willing to go to the emergency room. They might be able to give you something to take the edge off. Try to stay away from the beer, it'll just depress you. I get massive panic attacks. My doc has me on klonopin. I take it to sleep at night, but I also carry one with me in case things go bad and I start to amp up. Good luck. I know it sucks and I feel for you.

or call your PCP/GP and see if they will get you a prescription, even for just a few days until you see the psych on Monday?

I called my pharmacy and put in a refill request for my ativan. Took me three days to get it unfortunately. Next time I will put in the request when I still have a few pills left.

Unfortunately controlled substances are hard to get someone to write unless you have an existing doctor/patient relationship. Perhaps someone can give you something milder like Vistaril, until you pdoc is back. If not- for next time- try to always refill before you run out. Also, worst case scenario try meditation, deep breathing, yoga, a walk, even something OTC like Benadryl or anything to make you tired/sleepy and take the edge off. Good luck. I've been there.
