Strange fantasies

Postby heartshapedbox » Fri Dec 07, 2012 7:46 am

Anyone else feel like taking a car and then just going for a ride in it? I keep having that thought but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't act on it.

That sounds like an interesting fantasy! Me, I'm scared of bridges and the open road so I couldn't do it  . Probably my strangest fantasy involves zombie apocalypses. I believe it will happen one day and I hope to be a survivor

I have some weird fantasies too - including one where I want to be able to bounce high above the trees up and down in order to get places

I do that from time to time. Just get in my car and drive. Both times I did it I ended up hospitalized but I was pretty ill at the time. In a sounder state of mind I don't see anything wrong with it. Just let loved ones knonw what you're doing. Sounds like fun actually. I might plan a road trip next summer.

Yep. I once drove halfway across my country, just on impulse. Then someone at a gas station casually asked where I was headed, and I told them it didn't matter, because the police were after me because my stupid dentist told me off . . . it all went downhill from there. I usually take urges like this as a sign I'm on the way up, but as a fantasy, it seems benign enough.

As long as you mean taking a car as your own car and not jacking one, yeah :)

I actually have a constant longing feeling to do this, to just be on the road.
And I have actually done this quite some times as well. Just get in and drive for 3-4 hours with my music blasting from the carstereo. Sheer bliss :)
I usually did this on weekdays, in the evening, leave around 19:00 and get back around 23:00 just in time to get in bed so I could get up to work the next day. Though on the complete trip I do try to keep my interactions with the outside world to a minimum, at most stop for gas :)

It's also the reason why I have done a weeklong roadtrip all across Europa, just drive pretty much all the time, no destinations, no determined route, just drive towards where you think you want to go next. Don't stop to see any sights, just drive, drive, drive. I did that together with a friend of mine who has been diagnosed as bipolar I (I myself haven't been, but I am questioning whether that might be what is up with me (though I would think mine would be closer to ultrarapid cycling bipolar II, but I haven't made my mind up yet). I have a van and we slepped in the back of it, was really awesome, complete freedom to do whatever and go anywhere.

Now that I have bought a house and the prices of gas are what they are, I really can't afford to do these kinds of random trips (the 3-4 hours one I mean, the weeklong trip was planned). I have done some cycling trips, but that's just not the same. Though from my work they started a runningprogram and I have joined that, and on my private practices regularly go to random places I haven't been yet and run a random route. That does seem to settle the appitite for the roadtrips a little bit. Though I still really want to drive. So now I sometimes just drive a little bit round when I have been somewhere and need to drive back to my home. And another way I help myself in this is by offering to drive whenever you are going somewhere with somebody ;)

I have a fantasy involving me, a motorbike, a small tent, traveling cross the US (where I have never been), meeting people, sleeping under the blue sky by a fire... please don't tell me how unrealistic that is, I don't want to know :)

My actual strange fantasies have to do with fire and medieval themes, let's just say I like watching Game of Thrones an awful lot.
Currently working on my upcoming signature.

I wish I was born about 5 decades earlier. I hate how complicated life has become.
