While I have always had low self-esteem and an all-around low opinion of myself, I feel like I am sometimes "better" than your average person in some respects. For example, I don't care much for the latest trends and gadgets that so many people can't live without. I could care less about reality tv, Facebook, Twitter, ect. I don't care about status symbols.
Of course, this makes me more of an outcast in the eyes of a lot of people. For the most part, I don't care.
You ever feel like you avoid those thing precisely so you can feel different or better than other people? Or at least that it's part of your motivation?

No, I don't avoid these things in order to feel different or better; I geniunly do not care about those things. As a kid, I would sometimes try and be like my friends and have the same interest as they had, but I never felt it.
