I think highly insensitive people are also known as extroverts. :)

I actually think though I started off much more HSP and have gradually moved away from being hsp, more into avoidant, but, still nothing totally captures me. I am not taking the test exactly for those reasons.. no test can really tell you what you are.

I do like HSP in general because it seems a much more positive spin on a behavior. The AVPD is very 'disorder' which can make people feel bad about themselves. What if it was renamed "highly smart person who doesn't hang out with dumbasses" or HSPwdhowD. Might be less.. limiting.

But isn't HPD by defintion a mix of sensitivity and extroversion? (among other things, of course)

24 on the HSP, 0 on the stimulation...

It could be that some people become avoidant from excessive negative stimulation/experiences. It could also be that your tolerance for stimulation can be reduced by the fact that an avoidant style has reduced the exposure to stimulus. You can't tolerate some things because by successfully avoiding, you're just not used to noises, smells, etc.

As for people who like stimulation as well as being sensitive to it, I'd say that's the best of both worlds. Doesn't mean you don't feel the negative stuff, but rather you get to enjoy acutely the good stuff.

I personally wish I could handle more of a broader range of experiences. I feel stuff, and if it's too much it just wears me out.

23 on the HSP test. 4 on sensation-seeking.
You may say I'm a fool
Feelin' the way that I do
You can call me Pollyanna
Say I'm crazy as a loon
I believe in silver linings
And that's why I believe in you
