I imagine that Iran is fine too. The Western World seems to adopt a sense of fear around Arabic countries, but that's because we just have differnt cultures. We generally only hear the bad stories from these countries too. You know, if you look at it closely, there is more violence in Spain (ETA) than there is in Iran... So why is Iran generaklly regarded as more dangerous than spain? Also, would you guys have come to Ireland? - Sure you would have, despite us being bombed and having people murdered by the IRA.

Chucky :shock: Thanks, you´re doing a marvelous propaganda for tourism in Spain.
Fortunatelly, here Women are in a best position than in Iran.
ETA is doing its summer propaganda. All the years, the same.
But, yeah I like Arabic countries, at least, some parts of them. I think there are possitive things in each country.

For a Brit. I'm one of those ugly Americans. We overthrew their governemnt years ago and put the Shah in power. They overthrew the Shah years later and then they took our embassy in 1979. I'm old and I remember that. All the Death to America protests we saw on TV. The hostage thing went on for over a year. They didn't let them go until president Carter was out of office.

I know. We tried to get into the American embassy (now called US den of espionage).
For some reason we thought it was a museum about the revolution. It's not.

I sometimes wondered what they did with that building. I remember how they had people going though all the shredded documents, taping them back together. What a job that would be! I remember seeing one woman who had half a page restored. I don't know how much they were able to put back together.

hehe, I was implying that we will always hear bad things about countries, but most are generally safe. The only countries that I would actually not go to now are Afghanistan and Iraq. I would fear being kidnapped and beheaded in Iraq, and I'd just fear getting shot (by the Taliban) or bombed (by the Americans or British) in Afghanistan.

ETA maens Euskadi ta Askatasuna? I was reading articles about them this morning. They seem to be a typical terrorist group,

I stayed in my room for a week at college and survived on tap water and comedy DVDs.

I mean;
Do you hide your real self from people?

For years now I've been presenting myself as this weird crazy person. I'll come across as odd and observe people reactions to this character. I've backed up the character by usually being drunk and on drugs, or doing something crazy like Back Packing in Iran (which was awesome), doing crazy things to cars using Nitrous and just generally being eccentric.

But I'm tired of pretending. I just want to be me. I'm afraid people will reject the real me, whereas it didn't matter if they didn't like me before because that wasn't really me.

I can't tell from your post what part of your behavior is the "hiding" and what part you consider the real you. I have certainly closed my door and avoided people, but your premise that you mean some other kind of hiding. I think I am, and that I am correctly perceived as, a nice, considerate person when people do have to interact with me. The behavior you seem to be saying is your crazy presentation, seems more likely to me to successfully attract interaction with other people, rather than constitute hiding. I don't find that people seek me out as a friend because I am nice and considerate. They just know they can count on me to be helpful for whatever they need and then they can resume ignoring me. If I did eccentric things, that might be less boring and they might be more interested in hanging around with me. I understand the fear of rejection. Are you saying you feel rejection because of the eccentric behavior, or do you engage in eccentric behavior to justify the rejection you assume will get no matter how you behave?

Thats right. I don't really know how to interact or want to show my real self for fear of rejection. So I present myself in a slightly odd over the top way. The last time I was in the pub some kid said to me "Bright Eyes! You ######6 werido". I just ignored him.

Yes.
