Boss is retiring

Postby Parador » Tue Feb 06, 2018 10:08 pm

Might be a good thing or a bad thing. I had a way way way way way WAY worse boss back at the psych hospital. This guy gives me a 'satisfactory' evaluation no matter how much work I do. When they needed a boss for the other section they ended up promoting someone in the program. If that happens it could end up being the backstabber. But then the backstabber's job as tox coordinator could be up for grabs - and that would be a good promotion for me.

Of course I could apply to be the boss. I AM qualified. I was a supervisor for 8 years at the cafe. But it's a nightmare when someone is screwing up and you try to do a 'corrective action' as they call it. The jerk just accuses you of something and you get in trouble - that's what happened at the cafe job. 2 people were showing up late and leaving early and when I aid something they kicked ME out. NOT worth being boss.

He finished cleaning out his office today. Sure looks weird that way. 39 years he's worked there. A couple of the women there have been there for over 20. I missed the retirement party the other day because I was sick. Bummer - I heard there was good chili.

So what's going on with this?

It could be a while. It was 3 months before they hired someone for the organic section. In microbiology it took over a year! because they were looking for someone with a PhD but did not want to pay PhD level money. I don't know if anyone who works there applied. I would think the backstabber would want the job - she loves to be bossy. They may be starting interviews soon. But they will be upstairs in the exec's office, so I won't be able to see who applies.

Looks like 2 of the woman at work just had interviews - the backstabber and the nice one. They were dressed up nice at work today. If the nice one gets it she will be the first time I have had a boss younger than me. We had a woman with a PhD interview yesterday. I think the degree could give her an edge. The job market must be thin to have a PhD apply - the microbiology department was looking for a PhD and went over a year without a boss. They finally settled for an MS.

Well, I think if somebody goes to all the trouble, work and expense for a PhD, they should have an edge. I just hope if she gets it she's a good boss. Unemployment in general is very low right now, but in govt work that's a whole other ball game so yeah, it could be thin. The current administration is not too fond of government workers IMO.

Still no boss. I thought the PhD chick would be a shoe-in but she wasn't. They reopened the search and posted the job again. Looks like they are trying to find someone who needs no training. That will be a tall order. It's a pretty narrow specialty. I should apply! i'm sure my experience running a cafe for 8 years will get me the job! lol. LOL!! At least this means that the backstabber isn't getting the job.

Well that is good the backstabber didn't get the job. In the old days, companies used to train employees. WTF happened to that? Nobody wants to train anymore.
