Agree. It is said that all people are equal, but I don't think thats really true. Not in the eyes of society. It's mostly a philosophical, theoretical definition.

Can one have AvPD and also be an extrovert? I know I am an extrovert as defined by gaining energy from socialization as opposed to losing all of it in social situations. However, I spend pretty much all of my time alone but I do not feel it is by choice. I had always assumed 'introvert' was synonymous with 'shy' but recently I found out that is not the case. Anyway, it seems like I fit all criteria for AvPD but it's hard for me to know for sure... professionals don't seem to know much about it so I feel SOL.

Extroverts or more specifically "talkhyperactive extroverts" usully just say what's on their minds, which makes them look confident...which is a nice quality to have, because it means they don't keep much "inside" like we, avoidants, do. But when they make a mistake you can see through it and realize that it's just the way these people are, not some way to get you to do things...most extroverts at least.

I think even if society doesn't respect quiet people as much as extroverts, we introverts should still respect everyone if not for anything other than the fact that we use the "think-and-then-talk-method" and failure to respect would mean our thinking is poor in quality.

Well, there is someone at work like that and everybody have trouble standing her 'cause she gets annoying. Talkhyperactives like that shows a good deal of insecurity. They're anxious people like avoidants but use the reverse extreme way to cope with it...

More socially confident people are not one of them, they just know how to say the right amount of things, the right way, at the right moment...

I feel 100% the same way as you. I am truly a very extroverted person its just whenever someone says something that means they really dislike me, i lose almost all my confidence and go into isolation for a few weeks until I can regain my confidence to speak my mind again. This really disrupts friendships for me, people take it as an insult or sign of dislike when I stop talking to them but I am just re-cooperating my confidence. By time I have done that its too late for me to reconnect with them.
