I agree; I absolutely cannot stand the doctor's office. I haven't been there in almost a decade. I guess the only reason I'd ever go there is if I was seriously sick or injured and I couldn't take care of it myself. In fact, last New Years, I was with my friend, his girlfriend, and my girlfriend at the time. WARNING: BLOOD AND GORE AHEAD I was playing with a butterfly knife and I stabbed myself in the gut by accident. Those three started freaking out. I ran in the bathroom and shut the door. Then I pulled the knife out (it was about 2 inches in) and lifted my shirt up, and blood GUSHED out, like when you stab a full gallon of milk. It was kinda scary. I spent about ten minutes wiping my own blood off the floor. I put about one inch of bandages over it, then came out and told everyone I was fine. They all told me that I had to go to the hospital but I refused.

I've never been a big fan of hospitals. To me, it's a place where some of your clothing might be removed and several people will have all of their attention directed at you (doctors and nurses) If I'm VERY seriously injured, I'll patch it up myself and if I'm sick, I'll just wait it out.

I don't get this at all for some reason when I visit a doctor, dentist, or any sort of medical professional. In fact, the reverse happens than what normally is the case for me around people. When I go to the doctor, I become extremely calm and relaxed no matter what they do. Physicals, EKG, x-rays, vaccinations or withdrawing blood, all no problem. Actually, I like to watch my blood getting drawn as it fills up those plastic vials.

I hate the dentist and haven't been in years, the last time I went I freaked out and was too embarrassed to go back. I would have to be in a lot of pain to go, a couple of teeth have crumbled away so only the roots remain, but I can't stand to have anyone I don't know that near to me, digging around in my mouth.

I promise myself I'll go as soon as I get my life together, and just try to brush every day to minimize the damage.

 Unless you're in the mob, you really SHOULD have gone to the hospital. You probably didn't have anything more than a clean flesh wound 'cause you'd probably be dead right now from going septic if you had hit something more... :?

I'm probably less severe APD than you 'cause when my physical health/life is compromised, another part of the mind takes over and put the stupid self-conscious to sleep for a while. God knows where my social life would be if I always had a gun pointed in my back pushing me doing things I don't want to...
Interesting idea for a new kind of therapy.

Yea, going to the hospital would have been the smart choice..

But I was also drinking somewhat heavily (I'm 19 and the drinking age here in the States is 21) so if I would have gone to the hospital, they would have smelled alcohol on my breath and probably told the police.

PS: What happened to the first post? I know I didn't start this thread.
