I had similar experiences with a close friend. (Not just once, but escalating over the years) I cut him out of my life, and I don't miss him one bit.

Friends can be a real nightmare. You can be there for them, but it doesn't mean that they will be there for you. If they are normies, they see that you are different, so you are the one who has to accommodate to them, and not the other way round. As you are flawed, you need to change your ways, and not them.
