Do you have children?
Sort of. Millions of them. They're on a paper towel in the bottom of my trash can.
If you had to choose between your life and your child's who would you pick?
Using pets as a model and employing cognitive empathy, I would have to say mine. I wouldn't want to leave them fatherless for fear they'd end up murdered in the cab of a truck as the eventual result of being traumatized by losing their dad. As someone who has loved many animals, I can understand the bond humans have with their children, and despite the fact that having children of my own does simply not compute, I'm sure the human/child bond is much stronger than the animal/human bond. So I can appreciate the tender love for one's offspring. Still, I believe the limitless sacrality society has for children is based solely on emotion and is far from logical; a ways back there was a thread asking: who would you kill: an old person or a baby? Most people opted for the old person. Arguably, I believe the baby's life is worth much less. Babies have not amassed a lifetime of friends, loved ones, accomplishments (often ongoing) etc. It seems a shame to end a life that has been through and accomplished so much in favor of a blank slate, which is basically what babies are, no matter how cute or helpless they may be. Also, if you're ecologically minded, the baby would be the obvious choice.
If you picked yourself, how many of your children's lives would equal your life? ie would you die for five of your children but not for three of them.
Is there an app in which this can be calculated?
Do any males here ever wish they could give birth like a female?
After a big meal of Italian food, I kind of often do.
If there was no taboo or law against infanticide, would you destroy a malformed child to try again for a better one?
Define malformed. If it can dance for coins, I'd keep it.
