Medical professional who hears me

Postby Blurple » Thu Apr 19, 2018 2:10 am

Today I met with a phsyciatric nurse who I've been seeing for about a year, and we got talking about my diagnosis. I brought up my concern about the paper saying I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder b/c when I was in residential there was a rule out for schizoaffective but I was never diagnosed.( It's like a game of telephone, the farther it's passed down the grape vine the further from truth it becomes.) To my surprise she was very receptive. She told me that it could have been that it was misdiagnosed and might have been something I was going through at that time. Two months from now she's going to get me in for phsyciatric testing and I'm kinda nervous. Is there any general rules to follow for this kinda thing? (for example when taking ink blotters test it's a healthy trait to see nature as opposed to faces.) I ask because I get distracted easily and don't want to taint the results when I could have "passed" otherwise.

Hi, Welcome to the forum! :)

There is no easy answer to this as its ultimately up to the doc on how he decides to interpret the results and what his or her true intentions are. The easiest thing to do is to be honest. The doc may pickup on you trying to hide or sensor yourself. Cooked answers may or may not help, if "failure" is to be a given, then you will be kicking yourself over what you should or should not have said instead.

I do get you though. I hate relativity. I hate the fact my future is in the hands of someone elses's opinion. I hate the fact that far more solid or accurate pseduo measurements have been rejected.
