One day I woke up and I thought that aliens could communicate with me and were going to give me a lot of money. I also thought man could control the weather, but that was only because I had seen them make it rain on TV. I had voices in my head telling me that the sun was going to explode and that we were all going to turn into fish. I thought the voice might be God or V2K. I was seeing and hearing all sorts of things. I went to a psychiatrist and he said I had developed a chemical imbalance in my brain that suddenly made me think all these strange thoughts. He wasn't sure if it was delusional disorder or paranoid schizophrenia, maybe a bit of both, but delusional disorder was a strong possibility because that one says you can't communicate with a deity. I was glad that I was dealing with an atheist who had proved that God doesn't exist. Knowing everything there is to know about the brain and EMF he could rule out V2K.
He put me on antipsychotics which can only be described as wonder drugs, fixed the chemical imbalance nice and left me feeling right as rain. No more delusions or voices.
Even got a new job working in the marketing department of a company that makes chemical rat killer.

I've tried a million antipsychotics that didn't work and it left a stale taste in my mouth. But after being put on Respridal (spelling?) I am a firm beleiver that antipsychotics work.

That's awesome to hear that the meds were so effective for you. My best friend has been taking Clozaril for a few years, and it pretty much saved her life!
On a side note.....you market chemicals that kill ratties?
Normal is overrated

Risperdal damn near failed my liver. I got easy bruising and other stuff.
Lucky my Doc knew all about it though.

I love my latuda. I was hearing voices and delusional 24/7, and now I am back to normal. No significant weight gain, just akisthesia, which was managed by lowering my dose. I still hear voices every once in awhile or if i try to, but am not talking with them anymore.
