I experience visual hallucinations more than occasionally, as well as auditory, tactile, and olfactory.
What's helped me the most so far is realizing that every hallucination is like a bowel movement: It's a bunch of processed waste your body is trying to get rid of. You may not be able to identify what each hallucination originated from (what you 'ate'), but you can control what your emotional state is, and thus how your 'turd' smells. Everything you see comes from within you, so ask yourself "Why would that be the natural result of my psychosis?"
I'm trying really hard to directly confront the monsters or apparitions I see, in hopes of understanding myself better, but the gut-wrenching fear proves too much before a minute is up. Do you feel any anxiety when you hallucinate? Can you always differentiate between what is real or not? Is there some consistent detail that is in all your hallucinations? (for example, whenever I see people watching me, their eyes are always shadowed over or blurred out)

I invite everyone to call me on my B.S., and I forewarn I will call them on theirs.
