Residential treatment?

Postby dkbluiis » Fri Nov 28, 2014 4:14 pm

Hello, I'm dkbluiis, and I'm a sex addict and pedophile, specifically toward teenagers. Anyone here participated in residential treatment for sexual addiction? I'm finding myself slipping slowly back into old, bad habits, and was thinking that a complete withdrawal from my current, everyday life might be the thing I need to finally break the addiction.

Is it residential treatment for the sexual addiction? I have never heard of that. What would it be like? I would be interested in hearing about it, too.

I'm working on getting into a residential place as well. Cause I just don't feel like getting better is possible outside of a hospital setting.

Dita, is it a hospital? How long does it last? Is it just for sex addiction?

I had never thought about anything like that (I never knew anything like that existed) and I don't know that I would be able to go, either (for a long list of reasons), but it is nice to know that there are places like that that can help. I know I am a sex addict. I am seeing a therapist for my depression and I told him that I am a sex addict, but I really don't think he believes me. And I feel too messed up to talk with him more about it.

:/ that's not cool that your therapist doesn't believe you..your therapist should be more understanding and listen to you.

maybe you can find an out patient sexual addiction therapist. I started going to one on monday.

I think that he doesn't take me seriously and I kind of feel weird talking to him about it (like details).

I hope that the therapy is helpful to you. I will see if there is anything like that, here, though I think the easiest thing would be to convince my therapist and talk with him. But I feel funny about it.

If he doesn't take you seriously and you don't feel comfortable, then you need to find a new therapist.
You should trust your therapist and feel like you can talk to him about anything without him judging you.

And you're welcome :)

Yeah, I think that you are right, I do need a new therapist. I have been asking for a female therapist, but where I live there aren't a lot of options. But when one comes available I will ask to have her, instead.
