Today is Thomas Jefferson Day in the United States. Jefferson was a famous American skeptic and the third President of the US. Thankfully, the story that credits him with proving that tomatoes aren't poisonous is untrue, as are other myths about him, but in my opinion, his true story is worth knowing.
What exactly is the "Day of the Mushroom"? Is it a rec drug thing, like 420? Something about a nuclear explosion? Just a day to honor a certain taxon within the fungus kingdom?
Speaking of fungus kingdoms, I, being the dork I am, would prefer to believe the "Mushroom" in question is a certain videogame sprite.
