Ha, that seems to be an almost perfect description of an HPD, except that HPDs do seem to reciprocate the love/obsession in the beginning, and the seduction role is only played intermittently after that.

Femme Fatale seems so 40's - like a German spy movie.

How about...

Blond Bombshell - the 50's
Free Love Child - the 60's
Disco Queen - the 70's
Ho - the 80's
Courtney Love syndrome - the 90's
HPD - the 00's

What is the difference between a HPD woman and a femme fatale?
Hmm, the actual template in film noir requires a level of self-restraint and complexity most HPDs are incapable of, however, they could still very well play the femme fatale in it's basest of components (The dangerous woman who leads a morally ambiguous or flawed but otherwise stable man onto the path of ruin, only to abandon him).

The femme fatale, though manipulative, use their sexuality for gaining power, not attention, affection, etc. And they are certainly much less emotional than your average hpd.

I think the hpd archetype would be more like the 'tragic diva' type, maybe even the succubus, who uses her sexual power to drain energy from men. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Succubus

MM, but even a succubus has the higher goal of accruing souls for the armies of hell. She has to meet quotas, and be able to cut off those who aren't going to sign on the dotted line. Much like the femme fatale, the succubus entails a level of sobriety and focus the HPD lacks. Indeed, in a play I directed, I had an effective succubus acting as femme fatale (The play had a film-noir theme to it).
